In Victorian England, Professor Trevor Anderson sends his nephew Jamie on an expedition to Iceland, with Benoit Clerval as a guide. They discover that the mountain they've been searching has a passage to the center of the earth and join Captain Nicholls and his crew on their voyage. But before they can embark, they encounter Dr. Edison who attempts to stop them and joins them as a stowaway so he can continue his experiments. The journey isn't easy: The ship becomes stuck in ice, forcing everyone to take shelter in an extinct volcano where Dr. Edison holds everyone prisoner. It's up to Jamie, Benoit, and the remainder of the crew to get out of there before they freeze to death. As they continue on their journey, the team comes across an island inhabited by life forms that Jamie has never seen before. The inhabitants tell them about their lost city and ask for help in finding the way to rescue the great "Chronos" who resides inside it.
